The man behind it

Douglas Castrillo

Douglas Castrillo owns Santa Teresa Sportfishing and runs it himself. He fishes these waters — the ones off Santa Teresa, Mal País and out past the point — and he has been reading them long enough to know where things hold at which time of year.

The company is a family operation, and the way it talks about the water it works says as much as the fishing does: responsible practices, size limits respected, and billfish that go back in. The point is that this stays fishable for the people who come after.

If you want to know what is running before you book, ask him. That is the fastest way to plan a day here, and he answers.

Reaching the boat

Two numbers, one inbox. Douglas is the first one; Toto is the second if Douglas is out on the water.

Message Douglas and tell him when you are here

Tell him your dates, how many of you there are and what you want out of the day. He will tell you what is running and what it costs.
